Locane charged with vehicular homicide

MONTGOMERY, N.J., (UPI) -- Actress Amy Locane has been charged with vehicular homicide and assault by auto in the death of a woman Sunday night, New Jersey authorities said.

Locane, 38, was a cast member of the original "Melrose Place" TV drama. Her film credits include "Cry-Baby," "School Ties" and "Airheads."

TMZ quoted the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office as saying the New Jersey native and married mother of two hit the passenger side of another car in Montgomery, killing a woman sitting in the front passenger seat.

The driver of the second car was hospitalized with serious injuries, the Web site said. The names of the dead woman and injured man were not reported.

Locane, who was arrested at the scene of the collision for allegedly driving under the influence, also was involved in a separate minor hit-and-run accident shortly before the fatal crash, the report said.

Bail has not yet been set, the report said.
