'Transformers' to occupy Chicago streets

CHICAGO, (UPI) -- The shoot for the new film "Transformers 3" is tying up some Chicago streets for a while, but officials say yellow-shirted helpers will have detour information.

The shoot will occur from this weekend through Aug. 23 -- with a short break for a side trip to Milwaukee next week. Helpers in yellow shirts will assist pedestrians trying to get through the locked-up areas, The Chicago Tribune reported Saturday.

Those wanting to see some of this weekend's shoot should head for the LaSalle Street Financial District, and go at least as far as the barricades, the newspaper said.

A city press release says those wanting to see stunts should look downtown this weekend for helicopters. The release said the helicopters will flying near LaSalle, the Willis Tower, East Randolph Street and Daley Bicentenial Plaza filming stunt parachutists and aerial shots, the Tribune said.

When crews return from Milwaukee next week they will shut down fashionable Michigan Avenue, the report said.

Don't look for the robots, the Tribune said. They're generated by computer later.
