NEW YORK (Reuters) – Cavaliers forward LeBron James was released from the Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday after having surgery to remove a benign growth from his jaw, the team said.

Most Valuable Player James had been suffering the condition for several months but opted to delay the procedure until the end of the Cavaliers season.

Cleveland were eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday by the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference finals.

James, 24, had tissue removed from the parotid gland after five hours of surgery on Tuesday.

"The doctors are pleased with the outcome of the procedure, and at this time, are confident that no further treatment will be needed as LeBron is expected to make a full and complete recovery," Cleveland said in a statement.
