ARLINGTON, Texas, May 13 (UPI) -- Josh Hamilton touched off a streak of five homers in a span of 12 at-bats Wednesday that powered Texas to a 10-1 victory over Oakland.

The Rangers bounced back from a 13-inning loss in the series opener to win for the fifth time in six games.

Texas had a 2-0 lead going into the fifth, during which Hamilton hit a two-run homer and Vladimir Guerrero produced a solo shot.

Max Ramirez and Michael Young then hit solo homers in the sixth and Justin Smoak added a two-run blast in the seventh.

Prior to Wednesday's game, Texas had played 15 consecutive contests that were decided by three runs or fewer.

Derek Holland (1-0), recalled from Class AAA Oklahoma City before the game, threw six shutout innings in his season debut. He struck out seven and walked one.

Gio Gonzalez (3-3) allowed four runs on nine hits in four-plus innings to take the loss. Oakland had won its previous three games.
