MLB: New York Mets 5, New York Yankees 3

NEW YORK, (UPI) -- Mike Pelfrey held the Yankees to one run over six innings Saturday, keying the New York Mets' 5-3 victory over their crosstown interleague rivals.

Pelfrey (6-1) raised his record to 4-0 in home starts with the win, baffling the Yanks on six hits, walking two and fanning five in the solid start.

After the Mets bullpen allowed the Yankees to cut into their 5-1 lead with a couple of eighth-inning runs, Francisco Rodriguez closed the door, notching his seventh save by pitching 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Angel Pagan was 3-for-4 with two RBI, and David Wright collected a pair of run-scoring singles for the Mets, who broke a five-game losing streak to their American League rivals, during which they were outscored 35-4.

Yankees starter Phil Hughes (5-1) suffered his first setback of the year. He was roughed up for four runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings, walking three and fanning seven in the defeat.

Derek Jeter, Francisco Cervelli and Kevin Russo got the Yanks' RBI.
