SAN DIEGO, (UPI) -- Jerry Hairston Jr.'s second career grand slam highlighted a season-high, 19-hit barrage the San Diego Padres used to blow out the New York Mets 18-6 Monday.
Chase Headley scored four times for the Padres while going 4-for-5 with a solo home run. Chris Denorfia scored three times and drove in three runs while going 3-for-4 as San Diego won its third straight and seventh of its last nine games.
Kevin Correia (5-4) broke his three-game losing streak despite giving up six runs on seven hits and a walk in six innings.
The Mets got a two-run homer from Rod Barajas and a two-run triple from Jose Reyes. Hisanori Takahashi (4-2) was tagged with the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits and two walks in just four innings.
New York has lost three of four after a five-game winning streak.
