Hamilton is Sporting News' player of 2010

CHARLOTTE, N.C., -- Texas outfielder Josh Hamilton was selected the major league player of the year in voting conducted by The Sporting News.
The Sporting News announced a series of awards Wednesday, with Hamilton taking the player of the year honors after a poll of 326 major league players.
Hamilton led the major leagues with a .359 batting average and .633 slugging percentage. He also hit 32 home runs and drove in 100 runs this season.
He is third the Rangers player to win the vote, joining Rafael Palmeiro in 1999 and Alex Rodriguez in 2002. Hamilton and Rodriguez, who is now with the New York Yankees, are on opposite sides of the American League Championship Series.
Philadelphia's Roy Halladay and Seattle's Felix Hernandez were selected the National League and American League pitchers of the year.
Minnesota's Roy Gardenhire was the AL manager of the year and San Diego's Bud Black won the award as NL manager of the year.
Texas designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero was tabbed the AL comeback player of the year with Atlanta pitcher Tim Hudson taking the same honor for the National League.
The rookies of the year are Detroit outfielder Austin Jackson and Atlanta outfielder Jason Heyward. The reliever of the year awards went to Tampa Bay's Rafael Soriano and San Diego's Heath Bell.
The Sporting News said player of the year, comeback players and rookies of the year were determined by a vote of players; 25 major league managers voted in for the manager of the year awards; and a poll of 24 general managers determined the pitchers and relievers of the year.
