BSkyB Details Exec Compensation

Jeremy Darroch, the top guy at satellite company British Sky Broadcasting, has taken in a compensation package approaching 2 million pounds since his promotion at the company.

According to press accounts and regulatory filings, Darroch, who was named BSkyB chief executive in December, has a compensation package that includes a salary of 675,000 pounds ($1.229 million U.S.) and a bonus payment of 1.216 million pounds ($2.214 million U.S.).

Darroch took the top job at BSkyB, controlled by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., after Rupert's son James relinquished the role to oversee News Corp.'s European and Asian operation.

Murdoch earned compensation of 1 million pounds while leading BSkyB. As chairman of the U.K./Irish satellite TV company, his salary has been reduced to 75,000 pounds ($136,000 U.S.), stated news reports.
