Eutelsat Updates on W5 Satellite
In a statement released Wednesday, Eutelsat said the remaining orbital lifetime of its W5 satellite, which experienced an anomaly during the summer, could be reduced by a maximum of three years, through 2014. Eutelsat said measures are being implemented to minimize the reduction of in-orbit lifetime.
ActiveVideo Networks, which provides Web content and interactivity to more than 1 million cable and IPTV viewers, named Edgar Villalpando senior vice president of marketing. Villalpando has worked for HBO and DIRECTV, and most recently served as general manager of THUMP, an agency that develops and markets branded content through a combination of traditional and interactive platforms.
Following the devastating courses of Hurricanes Gustav and Hanna in the Caribbean, Telecoms Sans Frontieres deployed a team of emergency telecommunications specialist to Haiti. The organization delivers critical telecommunications needs in areas devastated by conflict or natural disasters.
