INTERNATIONAL: Milestones for Freesat, Kudelski's SmarDTV
Freesat, the U.K. joint venture between the BBC and ITV that offers free, digital satellite TV, said it has reached 100,000 sales within five months of its service launch. In particular, sales of high-def Freesat boxes have been helped by a summer of major sporting events in HD such as Euro 2008, Wimbledon and the Olympic Games, the service said in a statement --- SmarDTV, a Kudelski Group company that provides removable device security technology, said that more than 2 million of its CableCARDs have been deployed worldwide. In addition, SmarDTV said it would open a regional office in Seoul.
