Bowersox sets the 'Idol' record straight
LOS ANGELES, (UPI) -- "American Idol" hopeful Crystal Bowersox says media reports of her wanting to quit the FOX TV talent competition were "blown out of proportion."

Bowersox told reporters at a news conference on the "American Idol" stage Friday that she merely missed her son and never had any thoughts of actually quitting the show, MTV News reported.

There were widespread reports last month that Bowersox told "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest during a private conversation that she wanted out of the competition. She also denied the leak of the conversation sparked a feud between her and Seacrest.

"It's been blown out of proportion," Bowersox told reporters. "It was a brief conversation I had with Ryan after a show. I missed my kid. I just missed my son. I never had any intention to quit. I was not angry with Ryan. It was just a brief conversation. He gave me great advice -- and that was it."

In fact, Bowersox said her son is behind her musical drive at this junction.

"I hope he'll grow up and look back and be proud to know that his mom did everything she possibly could to make his life better," she said.

Bowersox and fellow finalists Michael Lynche, Lee Dewyze and Casey James pick up the competition Tuesday night.
