NBC's Gaspin to focus on prime time

LOS ANGELES, D.C., NBC entertainment Chairman Jeff Gaspin says he is going to concentrate on prime time after some late night flubs for the U.S. network.

At a media event in Los Angeles Friday, Gaspin talked about the network changes this past year -- the network gave its 10 p.m. hour to Jay Leno and lost longtime talent Conan O'Brien to TBS when it moved Leno back to 11:30 p.m., The Hollywood Reporter said.

"We made too many changes too quickly from a position of weakness," Gaspin told reporters. "And so it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. The goal is to rebuild, get stronger. And then, if we need to make changes at that point, it will be several years down the line. We'll have more information, but we won't be working from such a position of weakness, which really jeopardized some of the decisions that we made."

Gaspin said, "I'm done with late night for now. I'm going to focus on prime time."
