Berkus lands Elizabeth Edwards interview

LOS ANGELES, The host of the upcoming U.S. series "The Nate Berkus Show" says he found his interview subject Elizabeth Edwards "incredibly honest" and funny.

Edwards, the estranged wife of former U.S. presidential hopeful Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., is to appear on the nationally syndicated series, due to premiere the week of Sept. 13.

In a two-part daytime talk-show exclusive, Edwards reveals how she is turning the page on the past and beginning a new chapter in her life focusing on her relationship with her children, as well as her love of design, publicists for the show said in a news release

.

Berkus, an interior decorator, has appeared frequently on Oprah Winfrey's TV talk show.

Last year, Elizabeth Edwards opened Red Window, a home furnishings business whose name was inspired by a shop run by her mother in Japan. The move came shortly after her husband admitted fathering a child with another woman while Elizabeth Edwards was being treated for cancer.

"I found Elizabeth to be incredibly honest, funny and just a pleasure to be around. Her passion to build a new life for herself is nothing if not inspiring. And, the fact that we both love design, gave us an instant connection," Berkus said in a statement. "Being around her reaffirmed my love of strong women. They take their lives into their own hands and aren't bound by any parameters or rules."
