MECHANICSVILLE, Va., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- The bodies of a 40-year-old man and his toddler twin daughters were found dead in his home in Mechanicsville, Va., authorities say.

WTVR-TV, Richmond, reported Hanover County sheriff's deputies found the bodies of Robert King and his 3-year-old daughters, Caroline and Madison, about 3:30 p.m. Saturday while responding to a call about a suspicious death.

The TV station said the two girls had been living with their mother, who resided elsewhere in the county.

Investigators said their initial investigation indicated no suspects were at large in the case, but they were still piecing together the sequence of events leading up to the three deaths.

"This is truly a tragic incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased," Sgt. Chris Whitley said in a release.

A neighbor told WTVR-TV, he had consoled a distraught woman who found the bodies.

"He killed my children, he killed my children," he recounted her as saying.
