A Las Vegas lawyer who represented O.J. Simpson in his Nevada robbery trial is suing Simpson's lead counsel, charging he was shorted on his fee.

Gabriel Grasso, in legal papers filed Friday, says Yale Galanter, a Miami-based criminal defense lawyer known for representing celebrities, promised him $250,000 for his work on the case and let him do most of the work of preparation for trial, the Las Vegas Sun reported. He said the task was so big he had to hire additional staff for his firm.

''Grasso completed the vast majority of the pretrial work in the case, including the receipt and review of all discovery provided by law enforcement and the drafting and filing of all pretrial motions,'' his complaint says.

Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison in 2008 for robbing a sports memorabilia dealer in a Las Vegas hotel. The former football star said he was trying to recover property that had been stolen from him.

Both Grasso and Galanter stopped representing Simpson while the case was on appeal. Grasso said he has since learned Grasso was paid $500,000 for his work and hid that from him.
