How do you get camcorder videos onto a computer?

I'm using my mom's camcorder, and of course it takes tapes. So this brings up my question, how the heck do I get these videos onto my computer? It doesn't come with a cord to do that and I'm not sure they make those cords for this type of camera.. And it also doesn't have an area for memory cards. So does anyone know how to fix this problem?

MiniDV tape uses a firewire cable to connect the camcorder's DV port to the Mac's firewire port. The new MacBooks and the MacBook Air have no firewire port and no way to add one. ALL other Macs made in the last ten years have a firewire port. A firewire cable is not included in the box with the camcorder. USB won't work. USB-to-firewire converter/adapter/hub/cable things won't work. if you need to edit your camcorder video in imovie, you need to read this article:http://www.iorgsoft.com/Video-Converter-for-Mac/

If the computer has a card reader and your camera has an SD card/Compact flash you just put the card into the card reader, if not they sell USB to card readers at best buy, office max/Depot and other tech stores.
