I have a Nvidia 6800. I want to be able to play StarCraft 2 when it comes out. My computer can handle StarCraft 1 with 8 players without performance lagging. But WarCraft 3 with 8 players I get frame rate drop. Poor performance. :( I know 8800 GT requires upgrading to a bigger power supply but I don't know how to change the power supply so I want to avoid that.

Your pretty much SOL then. Might get buy with a 7600GT. But you should get a new PS. Just unhook the old one and pull it out. Get a new one 500Watts-600 watts and just hook the power pack up to your components.

i am afraid this surpasses a simple power supply issue....you will need to do systems homework.there may be an intermediate card. but i think an upgrade is due....keep the old machine it will kick ass for regular processing!a vista machine with a duel core and cooler i would recommend this rocks!

changing a power supply is not as hard as it looks. The only exclusive connectors are the ones that power the mother board. The ones that go on your drives are all the same.there are 2 kinds molex and sata.just pay attention and take your time. But remember this.If you see one that is rated for alot of watts. And is only like 30 or 40 bucks it's junk. You are asking for trouble.use a good brand like antec.you're better off with a 450watt quality ps than some some off brand 800 watt piece off crap. Cause the wattage Will fluctuate.and screw everything up. Sell the 6800 and use the money for a good power supply.
