First of all, there are 3 types of satellite's inm orbit.
1. Cband - Big mesh dishes, 6 foor to 15 foot. 15 Channels fer Satellite, 1 channel per transponder.
2. KU Band - Stronger reception, stronger sending signal and can be used with smaller dishes from 32" to 18" . This band of sat uses multiple channels per transponder. KU band breaks down into 2 categories.......
2-1 - Circular - This sub band of KU is used only for D!sh, b3v and Dtv. This circular band is ONLY for pay sats in orbit. The signal from these are the strongest and require the smallest dishes. Typicaly 18" to 24"....
2-2 - Linier - This sub band is free for everyone to use. Altho it does have some encrypted channels and some can be unloced useing Globcast on your Viewsat. (If you ever wondered what globecast was Free sats on this band are weaker signal, they MUST require a dish with a MIN of 32" and a linier LNB. The difference between a lnb for D!sh and linier is the Frequency they operate on. A universal linier lnb works great for all linier frequency's. If you even wanted to go High tech, Invacom makes a quad LNB (has 4 outputs, 2 linier and 2 circular) and one lnb can get everything in the KU band.

WildBlue-1
WildBlue-1 is a purpose-built satellite built for use by the WildBlue service exclusively. It has 35 spot beams in the Ka-band. WildBlue-1, was launched on December 8, 2006 at 22:07 GMT aboard an Arianespace Ariane 5. WildBlue-1 is an LS-1300 was built by Space Systems/Loral and occupies the 111.0° W slot. WildBlue-1 is effectively co-located with Anik-F2, thus increasing service capacity without requiring customers to re-aim satellite antennas.
Solidaridad II
belongs to the second generation of Mexican satellites and offers a total of 48 equivalent transponders in C and Ku-Bands with the following coverage:
C-Band: Mexico, South of the USA, Caribbean, Central and South America
Ku-Band: Mexico, Eastern coast of the USA, San Francisco and Los Angeles
Terms -
Feeds - are a live camera that news casters use to send life news to you. Before they setup you can watch all the pre-editing and the setup of the set. it's kinds fun especialy with court tv Hahaha..
PAY - for birds with encryption, There is 4 main encryptions in North America. Niagra2 (B3v D!sh), Digicypher (Starchoice), Power VU (pay per use system and C band) and globecast (viewsat supports globecast)
Bird - A satellite in the sky
Locals - Tv stations have sister stations they use to send some programing to them. Such as movies / sports events and general programing
Aiming to these birds is just like aiming to D!sh or b3v but a much larger dish is required as stated above. Also all the birds listed above have different operating frequencies. In your viewsat goto for example gal. 10r. You will have no signal on it due to your LNB. When the right LNB and switch is setup then you move the lnb freq. down or up until you see signal. Then aim until you get quality. NOTE not all birds in the sky send out a LOCK so you will see quality but the reciever will not tell you which bird you are on. Transponders on these birds changes all the itme so this is why your reciever has a blind scan. The main channels such as the networks don't move.
Any questions please reply and i'm here to help.
BTW dish motors work well with FTA setups.
