i connect my elura 100 to my computer through firewire and my computer does not recognize it. i tried a new firewire and nothing, i tried the canon zr500 and also nothing. i tried a different computer, and also nothing. i am out of ideas. i tried it on windows vista, and windows 7. is there a driver i can install, or something i can do to fix this problem?

Simple first:Did you turn the camera on AFTER the cable was connected, and the camera should be set to playback, not camera.Use the AC adapter.AND do you have software loaded, people sometimes don't load or remove moviemaker.Do you have admin privileges or is this a network system.I have both series of Canons and have never had this problem on any of the 6 computers I use.

Hope the driver you need can be found here and fix the problem:http://ww.best-driver-updater.com/There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Good luck.

If you have tried it on a couple of computers and different cameras then the last thing is probably the Cable process of deduction. Swap the cable and you will probably find it will be fine RR
