Mother charged with using scissors to inflict 100 wounds on daughter, 2

By The Associated Press

GARDNER, Mass. - A Massachusetts woman has been charged with using scissors to inflict 100 wounds on her two-year-old daughter.
Susan Johnson can be heard saying "Die! Die!" in a 911 call made by a security guard who subdued the woman Wednesday night in a laundry room at an apartment building in Gardner, Mass.
Police say the 38-year-old Johnson, who does not live in the building, also used an electrical cord in an attempt to strangle the toddler.
Officials say many of the wounds were superficial and the girl is expected to survive.
Johnson's lawyer, Peter Binder, says his client is paranoid and believes she is being stalked by a cult.
The woman was ordered to undergo a competency hearing at her arraignment Thursday.
