Man clings to back of stolen truck as Georgia police give chase

FORSYTH, Ga. - The driver for a trailerless semi clung to the back of the truck Tuesday as a suspected carjacker led police on a 80-kilometre chase down an interstate in Georgia. The semi eventually slowed enough for the truck driver to jump off near the end of the chase.
When the suspected carjacker, Milo Banks, 27, stopped the semi, armed officers surrounded it, breaking through the windows before wrestling him to the ground.
A state trooper was treated at a hospital for a superficial gunshot wound in the shoulder, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said. It was not immediately clear where the shot came from.
Banks, of Albany, was being held at the county jail, said Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Alison Sellman-Willis. He was to be transferred to Fulton County, where charges would be filed, she said. She did not know if Banks had a lawyer.
Capt. Jason Bolton with the Henry County police department said authorities believe the suspect stole the truck in Union City just south of Atlanta. Bolton said county authorities helped chase the truck as it barrelled down Interstate 75 with the trucker sitting on the back.
TV helicopter footage showed the driver for the truck's owner, U.S. Express, jumping off the back of the truck and into the middle of the interstate as it slowed down in Monroe County.
