Part of NYC evacuated
NEW YORK, (UPI) -- Part of downtown New York was emptied Tuesday night because of a suspicious package that turned out to be trash, city police said.
WNBC-TV reported several blocks, including part of Times Square, were evacuated as a precaution.
The police bomb squad examined the package found at West 48th Street and Broadway shortly after 9 p.m. A WNBC source said investigators determined it was just garbage.
