Magnitude 5.7 quake rocks Southern Calif.
OCOTILLO, Calif., (UPI) -- A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Southern California Monday night, the U.S. Geological Service said.

The quake -- which was initially said to be 5.9 magnitude -- struck just before 9:30 p.m. PDT. It was centered about 5 miles from Ocotillo, in a remote area east of San Diego and north of the U.S.-Mexico border, the USGS said.

The quake struck not far from the site of the 7.2 Mexicali quake in April, the Los Angeles Times said.

The quake was felt in San Diego, where fans at Petco Park cheered when the foul polls swayed during the Padres' game with the Toronto Blue Jays. It was also felt north of Los Angeles.

There were no initial reports on injuries or damage.
