TV anchor attacked at country club
CINCINNATI, A local TV news anchor in Cincinnati and his wife were injured in an assault at a country club, police said.

Brendan Keefe, co-anchor of the WCPO-TV newscast at 5:30 p.m., said he will not be on camera for about a month because one eye is expected to be bloodshot from the attack, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

Newtown police said the incident at the Ivyland Country Club began Sunday evening when Duane Thompson, 38, of Hyde Park left his golf cart and it rolled into the fence around the pool, close to where Tiffany Keefe and their baby daughter were sitting.

An argument allegedly became physical when Thompson attacked the Keefes, pushing Tiffany Keefe down and fracturing her skull. Thompson also allegedly attacked a club employee.

Keefe said he did not press charges about his own injuries because his wife was so much more seriously hurt. Thompson was released on bail after being charged with assault.

"We were victims of a vicious and unprovoked attack by a drunk man," Keefe said.

Keefe, an Emmy-winning TV reporter for WCBS-TV in New York, said he moved to Cincinnati in 2007 because he and his wife did not want to raise a family in New York. He said he still does not regret the decision.
