Dr. Pepper Facebook campaign dropped

LONDON, Coca-Cola is suspending a Dr. Pepper promotion on the social-networking site Facebook because of an uproar in Great Britain.

The campaign stirred up controversy after some parents complained the promotion made references to a pornographic movie.

The Guardian said Monday the promotion allowed Dr. Pepper to "take over" the participants' Facebook pages and post silly and modestly embarrassing messages that others could see.

Outraged British parents said the "comments" included a direct reference to an X-rated movie posted on one teenage girl's page.

The newspaper said Coca-Cola said it was investigating the matter internally.
