Blast shakes Gaza Strip
GAZA, A powerful explosion in the Gaza Strip Sunday rocked the home of a senior Hamas military commander, the BBC reported.

The British network said Hamas sources told it the militant leader, Alaa al-Danaf, escaped injury but his brother Abed was among up to 30 people wounded. Al-Danaf's house was destroyed and several other houses nearby were heavily damaged, the BBC said.

Palestinians blamed an Israeli missile strike for the blast but the Israeli military said it hadn't launched any strikes in the area and wasn't responsible, the BBC said.

Muawiya Hassanein, head of the emergency unit at the Gaza Health Ministry, told the network 30 people had shown up at hospitals with most suffering minor to moderate injuries, though one was in critical condition.
