Cow Lost Calf, Started Nursing Pig Instead
GREER, S.C. -- It's not something workers at a Greer farm say they've ever seen.
For Bluebell, a small cow who lost her calf a few weeks back, a 10-week-old piglet named Wilbur will do just fine.
Carol Fisher at Fisher's In The Fall farm said that Bluebell began caring for Wilbur when he was first born, and it hasn't stopped since.
"We've been noticing the last several days he's been back getting him a little milk every once in a while," Fisher said. "Now, today, he started completely just nursing all morning long."
A calf is also nursing alongside the pot-bellied pig.
