MOBILE, Alabama - A visitor from the wild visited a Mobile couple and sent them running for help. Monday morning, the animal found a temporary home inside the couple's computer room in the Carriage Hills neighborhood.

Even though the Halloween weekend is over, David and Linda Johnson had one more visitor come to their home.

"It had an evil eye. So we kept our distance," said D. Johnson.

Monday morning, the couple left their back door open so their pets could go in and out.

Around 9:00 a.m., David went for a walk, while Linda stayed at home.

Then their neighbor, Barry McLean spotted something unusual.

"I was actually looking out of my living room window and noticed a creature coming through my neighbor's yard. I realized it wasn't a dog," said McLean.

"I knew it wasn't a dog. It was a coyote," added Linda.

Then McLean couldn't ignore a cry for help.

"I heard my neighbor's wife screaming, get out, get out, and I realized it went into the house," said McLean.

"I thought I could get its attention to get out of the house, but it wasn't going anywhere," said Linda.

When the coyote came in the back door, Linda went in the opposite direction.

"So I ran out the front door and left it in the house. I let it have the house and I waited out front for my husband to get home," Linda said.

The Johnson's say the animal hid underneath furniture until help arrived and it did cause some damage to their home office.

"It knocked over all sorts of furniture," said David.

Animal control officers were able to take the coyote away.

"I have never heard of anything like that before and I hope nobody else had that experience," said Linda.

The Johnson's say they have some rough Monday mornings, but this one tops them all.

Mobile animal control officers say the animal was turned over to the Wildlife Department for a safe to return to its natural habitat.
