TULSA, Oklahoma -- An exclusive Oklahoma moment only on News On 6.
A family rushing to a Tulsa hospital early Friday morning to have a baby finds out the baby had other plans.
The mother, Cassie Apple, had the baby in an extended cab Ford F-150 pickup parked on the shoulder of the Broken Arrow Expressway at about 1 a.m.
Cassie was heading to St. John Medical Center with her husband Wayne and her mother-in-law and sister, but the baby didn't want to wait.
They pulled the car over at the 21st Street exit ramp on the BA and Wayne called 911.
When EMSA medics arrived they assisted in the baby's birth.
Wayne blames the fast roadside delivery on the slow start from home because everybody wanted to go.
"It took the girls forever to get in the car. She's doing her makeup, my mom's doing her makeup, they're changing clothes, changing jackets to match."
Little Blayne Charles Stephen Apple, who weighed 6 pounds, five ounces, and his mother were taken to the hospital.
"I thought I'll do what I did with our daughter, wait until I can't take it anymore and I waited a little too long," Cassie said. "It's something that happened so fast, it's just crazy, amazing."
Blayne is getting some extra attention because of what happened, but he's going to be fine.
Less than 12 hours after the BA delivery, EMSA assisted in another birth at Admiral and Zunis.
The call came in at 11:19 Friday morning and pre-delivery instructions were given over the phone.
EMSA arrived on scene just 4 minutes later and delivered a baby girl.
Both babies and mothers were doing fine at last check.
