Mounties in Squamish, B.C., are investigating after a car was destroyed by an explosive device on Saturday night.

Squamish RCMP were called to a report of an explosion in a residential driveway on Skyline Drive at about 11:39 p.m. PT.

Police say a 1988 Jeep Cherokee, one of four vehicles in the driveway, was destroyed by the blast.

No one was injured, but several people inside the home and some nearby neighbours were examined by paramedics.

In a written release, police said the blast was caused by "an improvised explosion device."
