AGAWAM, Mass. - Dozens of people, perhaps more than 40 men and women are homeless in the aftermath of a raging fire that gutted the Meadow House Apartment complex in Agawam Sunday morning.

22News is relieved to report to you that everyone got out safely, nobody was hurt, but many of the tenants lost everything they owned.

The Pioneer Valley Red Cross disaster relief team immediately went to work finding temporary housing for the Meadow House tenants.

Deputy Director of the Pioneer Valley Chapter Paige Thayer told 22News, the people who lived in the complex were mostly single occupant tenants.

There were no children living there. Had this been a family type complex, the number of the homeless would have been much higher.
