Man Trapped Overnight After Driving Off Cliff

AZUSA, Calif. -- The driver of a car that plunged 150 feet into the San Gabriel Canyon was rescued with only moderate injuries Tuesday.
The 49-year-old man told rescuers he drove into the ravine Monday afternoon and was trapped in his vehicle overnight.
A California Highway Patrol officer noticed tire tracks that went off San Gabriel Canyon Road near mile-marker 20, said L.A. County Fire inspector Matt Levesque.
About 40 members of the Los Angeles Fire Department, including a search and rescue team, pulled the man out of the ravine around 11:30 a.m.
"He told them he had been in the vehicle since yesterday at 4 p.m.," Levesque said.
There was no immediate word on what caused the accident.
