-- Three Afghans were killed in a suicide attack in Kandahar province on Monday, the Afghan government said.

The explosion took place when the bomber in a car with explosives targeted a police vehicle that was on patrol in the southeastern town of Spin Boldak, a hotbed of Taliban militants, the government's media center said.

The victims comprised of two police officers and a civilian.

On Friday, another suicide attack in the town killed at least 17 people and wounded 23 others.

In that incident, the suicide attacker detonated himself in a public bath where the border police commander was bathing, said the spokesman for the governor of Kandahar province.

Two border police officers and 21 civilians were wounded in the attack.
