I have an ( old now!) Neusat Sp 6000, which was working fine, then recently it started acting strangly. First it woul dturn on and of by itself. Now that that is somewhat fixed it has no sound at all. I do get many channels but no sound. Can anyone please help?

I have a bose companion 3 speaker system hooked up to my windows 7 alienware desktop. My problem is they sound like junk. My computer thinks i have a surround sound and it acts like they are the rear speakers. when i change it off of surround sound mode and back to stereo mode, They wont work.

what possibly could be wrong in the DVD ROM when there is no sound but you could see clear pictures or movie? I could hear music if there is a CD, but no sound if I use any DVD. Thanks
