The King of Kings statue, also known as Touchdown Jesus.

MONROE, Ohio -- A replacement for the burned "King of Kings" statue at the Solid Rock Church will be similar in height to the original, but show more of Jesus Christ.

The church said in a news release on Monday that the new "Come Unto Me" statue will depict a standing Jesus with arms out in an embrace.

The King of Kings statue depicted Jesus from the waist up, with his arms outstretched upward, leading some to refer to the statue as "Touchdown Jesus."

"The statue itself will stand approximately 51 feet tall, with an addition 11 feet of boulders flowing down to the pool," the release said. "The statue will be constructed of a steel substructure with a lightning suppression system installed."

The King of Kings statue was 62 feet tall before a fire believed to be sparked by a lightning bolt burned it down to the metal structure in June.

"Rebar and hardwire cloth will cover the substructure defining the general detail. Urethane foam will cover the wire mesh and this will be sculpted into the refined detail of the statue. The statue will be finished with a top coating of acrylic based aggregate to resemble limestone," the release said.

Steve Brauch of Glasshand LLC and Tom Tsuchiya, both of Cincinnati, will collaborate to design and sculpt the “Come Unto Me” statue.

The statue is expected to be completed by spring or summer 2011. The church did not disclose the cost.
