Desktop running RAID 0, is it safe to add a third HD?

Dell 435T. Two hard drives came with RAID 0 set up.. I'd like to add a 3rd for backup purposes but will it mess up the RAID and lose my data? The plan is to just hook it up to the next available SATA port.

Assuming you have an available SATA port on the motherboard, you're fine.Plugging another SATA drive in will make it available as an independent drive, which will be given the next available drive letter normally. You would have to specifically add it to the RAID 0 array if you wanted to, using whatever software Dell provides as a RAID controller. I know the Intel RAID controller allows you to add drives to a RAID 0 array, I don't know about Dell's version.

If you have a free SATA port open you can another hard drive as additional drive, but you cannot set it up in RAID.
