The only real differences between CPUs these days is to which one the software is optimized. VS and Photoshop have long been tweaked for intel and I am not too sure if anything Oracle produces is optimized at all. If you plan on programming parallel processing on multicores, you are in the right area with a quad core CPU. As for the vast majority of actually used photo processing, there is no real advantage shown for any particular CPU under PS. Doing multiple passes with multiple filters and complex transforms on a large number of images and needing to do it fast, might well be done better on an intel chip, but again dollar for dollar you are probably better of with the AMD.The little experience I have had with Oracle was years ago and was not a happy time. I tend to avoid it like a plague. Some may tell you that a Core i5 or i7 is superior to the chip you are asking about. I say to you and them that for the system price intel can't really match AMD. For comparable performance with intel you need to spend an extra $100 or so(the more expensive CPU and motherboard, the more expensive RAM). The 965 ranks better than the i5 670 and 680 and costs about $100 less.Good luck.
