Launch Success for Galaxy 19

Sea Launch successfully lofted Intelsat's Galaxy 19 satellite into space during a mission that took place early Wednesday morning.

The satellite, built by Space Systems/Loral, will operate from 97 degrees, replacing Galaxy 25. The spacecraft will provide 50-state coverage in addition to serving the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico.

Galaxy 19 will join Intelsat's North American Galaxy fleet comprised of 16 other satellites that cover North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Galaxy 19 is the 43rd satellite constructed by Space Systems/Loral to enter Intelsat's in-orbit fleet. The satellite operator said its next launch is slated for early next year.
