Most new printer cartridges have a chip in them telling the printer they are empty. Once the chip is set, it wont work again period!

try these ideas:1) (with your printer off or on),lift the top, like you do to access the printer cartridges, then gently close it,2) turn the printer on, and see if this works. If not,1) unplug the printer,2) plug the printer back in,3) turn it on,4) wait for it to give a read-out message that it is ready for copying.5) see what the computer monitor says (if there is any/no problems)6)if no response, run the diagnostics check (if your computer has one)7)still, if no response, read your manual, follow its instructions,8) call Lexmark's 1-800 tel. #, or send them an E-mail, with a list of things you did, and what happened (or did not happen).Good luck!

Lexmark printers won't work with refills any more. They used to, but then they nobbled them to not budge. You could over ride the older ones but now they got even more greedy. At least if they printed with refills you have to buy a new cartridge ever 4th one or so. Now they are to be avoided as it's cheaper to trade it in for a make that will print with refills.

Most cartridges can not be simply refilled anymore.Your cartridge has a "fuse" in it which expires when the printer has emptied the cartridge, since this is a physical compnonant there is not way to over come this. You can either find a way for it to print thinking it is empty (normally holding resume for several seconds will do it) or buy a new cartridge.
