Miniskirt, soccer bans to have stiff fines
CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA, Italy, -- Officials in an Italian town considering bans on miniskirts and public soccer-playing said offenders would face fines of between $35 and $696.
Castellammare di Stabia Mayor Luigi Bobbio said the proposed rules, scheduled to be voted on Monday, would ban miniskirts, saggy pants, sunbathing, playing soccer in public and blasphemy, the BBC reported.
The mayor said the rules would "restore urban decorum and facilitate better civil coexistence."
Don Paulo Cecere, a local parish priest, called the proposed rules "the right decision."
"It's also a way of combating the rise in sexual harassment," Cecere said.
