[Wow!] Opening up own iPhone with pentalobe screwdriver

I read on CrunchGear today that instead of moaning about Apple’s off-standard pentalobe screws, you can just purchase a special screwdriver. Good advice, of course, especially since I’ve been wanting to try to replace my 3GS-battery. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I’m not sure it will be a cheaper option, especially keeping in mind you’ll have to somehow purchase an original battery and with the risk of screwing up your iPhone for good (no pun intended).
