Pujols, Cabrera win Silver Slugger Award

NEW YORK, -- First basemen Albert Pujols of St. Louis and Miguel Cabrera of Detroit were honored with the Silver Slugger Award Thursday.
The award is handed out to the top offensive performer at each position in each league.
Pujols, in his 10th year in the majors, batted .312 with 42 homers and 118 RBI. His home run and RBI totals were tops in the National League. He won the honor for the third straight year and for the sixth time in his career.
Cabrera received the award for the third time after posting a .328 average with 38 homers and 126 RBI.
Other National League winners included second baseman Dan Uggla of Florida, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki of Colorado, catcher Brian McCann of Atlanta and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman of Washington.
In the outfield, the winners were Ryan Braun of Milwaukee, Matt Holliday of St. Louis and Carlos Gonzalez of Colorado. Yovani Gallardo of Milwaukee won the honor at the pitcher's spot.
In the American League, the infield winners were New York second baseman Robinson Cano, Chicago shortstop Alexei Ramirez, Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer and Boston third baseman Adrian Beltre.
The outfield honorees included Toronto's Jose Bautista, Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford and Josh Hamilton of Texas. The designated hitter award went to Vladimir Guerrero of Texas.
