In an effort to create one home networking standard for VoIP, IPTV and other such services, the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) Home Networking Forum last week released a work plan in advance of its Feb. 3 meeting. The plan includes technical assessments from both logical and functional perspectives, an analysis of the state of home networking standards and studies of technical issues including quality of service, security and others --- After introducing its new entry-level electronic systems technician exam at CES last month, the Electronic Systems Professional Alliance (ESPA) announced last week that it will offer its Certified-EST exam at the Electronic House Expo in Orlando this March. The exam covers electrical basics; tools; construction methods and materials; wiring and installation practices and standards, codes and safety practices.
