Will a phenom AMD processor fit opteron socket?

I am building a new computer and planning to use a AMD Phenom II X6 processor. I was wondering if I could use them with any kind of Opteron motherboard? a dual processor motherboard would be cool.thanks guys

Yes, just make sure the motherboard has an AM3 socket.
