Wires on the Way Out, 50 Mbps Comes to Baltimore

According to a new forecast from market research firm Gartner, the number of mobile enterprise lines in North America will exceed the number of landlines by the end of 2010 as businesses move to VoIP systems that can integrate mobile and fixed-line services --- Comcast will soon begin rolling out 50 Mbps wideband in the Baltimore, Md. metro area and said it plans to offer the service throughout the market by the end of 2009 as part of its DOCSIS 3.0 rollout. Rollouts are also planned this month for Atlanta, Chicago and Fort Wayne, Ind.
