Seward, NE- "I don't know how this is going to affect her," says Faye Cox. "I haven't talked to her ." Cox is worried how her granddaughter will take the tragic news of a car crash that injured a classmate and killed another.

Cox, who shares the same last name with the family, but is not related. She still feels sorry for them.

"I think it's tragic," she says. "I think it's a little young to lose them. We worry enough about our children and to lose them at that age."

"If it were to happen to me, as I'm sure it is to this family, it's extremely devastating, extremely devastating," says Lincoln resident Richard Beckler.

Monday afternoon the Cox family was driving east on Hwy 34 near Lincoln. Danna Seevers was driving west in a pick-up with a horse trailer attached. The trailer came loose and hit the Cox's family car head on. Nine-year old Korbin Cox crawled out a car window. His sister, ten-year old Kasey was thrown from the car and dies.

The Seevers family said their hearts go out to those involved.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the Cox family was not wearing seatbelts.

The Seward Public School District had grief counselors at the schools Tuesday to help the students deal with the painful news.

State Patrol says the early investigation shows the trailer had all of its safety chains in place and it had the right size hitch.
