ABC Family exec now at ABC Entertainment
LOS ANGELES, ABC Family executive Paul Lee has been promoted to president of ABC Entertainment, network officials said.
Lee revived Walt Disney Co.'s ABC Family channel using shows that appealed to younger viewers, the Los Angeles Times reported. At ABC Entertainment, Lee immediately took over, succeeding Steve McPherson.
McPherson abruptly stepped down this week, the report said.
ABC Family has shown six consecutive years of growth under Lee, the newspaper said, and is among the top five cable networks in prime time for teens and young women 18 to 49.
Lee, 50, was born in London and is a former BBC executive. He will oversee creative and business operations for the broadcast network and for ABC Studios, the in-house production unit, the Times said.
