Seven passengers on an Air Canada flight were taken to hospital in Switzerland on Friday after encountering severe turbulence toward the end of their transatlantic flight.
The incident occurred aboard Flight 878, a Boeing 767 en route to Zurich from Toronto, airline spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick said.
The flight hit some unexpected turbulence about 90 minutes before it was scheduled to land, he said.
Seven of the 95 passengers on board were taken to hospital with minor injuries after the plane had touched down. Fitzpatrick said six of them have since been released, while one remains in hospital for observation.
None of the flight's nine crew members was injured.
