Rainy weather prompted the Alberta government Tuesday to lift a provincewide fire ban put in place last week.

Rain has substantially reduced the number of fires in the province which has lessened the demands placed on firefighters.

However, municipal and provincial park fire bans may still be in place and the government is asking people to check albertafirebans.ca before they head out.

The risk of fire is still high and provincial officials are urging people to take care so they don't spark more wildfires.

The ban was put in place on May 17 in response to high wildfire risks and windy conditions across the province.
