Antiques flea market opens in S.F.
SAN FRANCISCO, A new flea market for antiques and collectibles opens this weekend in San Francisco.

The market will be open the third Sunday of the month in a parking lot near Candlestick Park, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Two veteran antique dealers, Jerry and Betsy Goldman, signed a contract with the city to run it for a year.

"San Francisco really needs a good show," Goldman said. "We're really excited about this; we'll build a market that the city can be proud of."

Richard Rustico, an antiques dealer and appraiser in San Francisco, said he has talked to dealers in Los Angeles and Oregon who plan to come to the Bay Area for the flea market.

"We've all been waiting for several months for this," Rustico said. "Candlestick has unlimited potential because parking is not a problem and it's right next to the freeway."

The flea market is the city's first large one specializing in antiques. Everything sold there must be at least 20 years old.
